Meticulous, thorough, and precise editing, indexing, and proofreading

The following are links to organizations of which I am a member:

American Society of Indexers (www.asindexing.org): This site has loads of information about indexing and indexers, as well as a searchable database of members. Check out the “Advice for Editors and Authors” page which has links to information about working with freelance indexers, as well as an index evaluation checklist.
Bookbuilders of Boston (www.bbboston.org): An organization dedicated to bringing together people involved in book publishing and manufacturing throughout New England.

The Editorial Freelancers Association (www.the-efa.org): Like ASI, the EFA site also has a searchable database of its members. It also has a great resource section that includes information on publications and many great online reference sites.

NEASI (www.newenglandindexers.org): The New England Chapter of ASI (above) has its own Web site, which contains many interesting articles on different aspects of indexing, and a listing of chapter members and the services they provide.

The following links are to Web sites I have found to be informative, helpful, and/or just really interesting:

Epicurious
(www.epicurious.com): Conde Nast’s award-winning food Web site is not just for those looking for great recipe or entertaining ideas. It has a great food dictionary and wine dictionary.

Gayna Hoffman Photography (www.gaynahoffmanphotography.com): A Boston-based freelance photographer for over twenty years, Gayna specializes in travel, editorial, portrait, fine art, and stock photography.

Librarians’ Internet Index (www.lli.org): A compilation of useful and interesting Web sites, organized under general headings (such as Arts and Humanities, Home and Housing, Recreation, etc.) and then more specifically. LLI.org also sends out a free weekly newsletter called New This Week, which features information on dozens of other high-quality Web sites.

Library of Congress (www.loc.gov): More information, on a multitude of topics, than you can imagine.

Merriam-Webster OnLine (www.Merriam-Webster.com): Not just an online dictionary. Word games, Word-of-the-Day, Crosswords, and the always-fun Open Dictionary (suggestions from the public for words that should be in the dictionary) make this site a great stop when you need a break from a tedious project.
